WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH

I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear.

The month of March we celebrate Women’s history, and it is a time to honor and appreciate the vital role women play in society. Women’s history falling in March is more than an arbitrary month. We take a quick history tour to understand why the month of March has significance in Women’s history.

  • Women’s suffragists (def. a person advocating that the right to vote be extended to more people, especially women) marched down Pennsylvania Avenue in 1913.
  • Title IX which prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or other education program that receives federal money was passed in March 1972.
  • President Jimmy Carter designated the first official Women’s week in March of 1980.

This month we at Humble are asking you to think of the women in your life? Are they mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, or friends? We also ask you to think about the women who inspire you? Are they nurses, caregivers, teachers, bosses, actresses, or your coworkers? Whomever you think of, choose to celebrate them today, this week, this month, and practically every day you are around them.

Humble Home Care Services was founded by a strong woman. As our managing director, Nancy Kibuthu inspires all of us to strive for greatness. Her will and tenacity in going after what she believes inspires everyone in the organization. She has set a high standard and carved out a path that many can follow suit. Our head Nurse position is also filled by a woman, who we are greatly indebted to by her sacrifice and commitment to providing compassionate care. As a homecare business, Humble is made up of a majority of women employees. We, therefore, understand that women are the backbone of Humble Home Care Services and for that, we are greatly thankful that.

My personal hero for this month is my mother. You know that saying that goes, “a mother’s love is unconditional and eternal.” That saying rings true in my case and more than likely in yours too. In order to understand the importance a mother plays, let us get a view of the large picture which is those around you (town, state, or country). The backbone of any society begins with a strong household. A strong household is glued together because of a woman and as such a group of households makes a neighborhood, a group of neighborhoods makes a town, a group of towns makes up a county, a group of counties make up a state and the joint unity among states make up our country. Following this logic, it is clear that women are the backbone of our societies!

Moving forward we should celebrate women in the present, and encourage the young that there are no limits based on gender and that they should strive to go out and chase their passion. For yesterday is just but a memory, and today is all we got and tomorrow is the anticipation of what we prepare for today.
