CONSISTENCY

“Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying basic fundamentals,” E. James Rohn.

Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. a.k.a Tom Brady a quarterback in the National Football League was drafted in the sixth round as the 199th pick in the 2000 draft. To gain some perspective on this, 198 football players were perceived to be better than him. As of present day, he is the only player from that era that is still playing and competing at a high level. The legend of Tom Brady began when he took the field vs the New York Jets in 2001 and the rest is history. He has won 6 Super Bowls which includes 4 MVPs and 3 regular season Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards, which makes him the most accomplished football player since the beginning of the game. So how did a scrawny kid from South California end up being the best? By being the most consistent player on a game to game basis. Tom Brady did not cheat the game; he prepared every game the same way from the first time he took the field and this level of consistency is what separates him from all the players that took on the field.

There is a lesson to be learned from Tom Brady’s story is that consistency pays off. Consistency is not something that can only be applied towards sports, it something you can apply towards anything you do in life. Whatever your career may be, put all your effort towards it and be consistent day in day out. Consistency is a value that can be carried over towards anything you put your mind towards. If you choose to not give effort in your current career in hopes of getting a better one, you’ll end up exactly where you are now. You can’t automatically be consistent only when the environment suits you, you have to do it no matter the circumstances.

In the health field, I’d recommend the same. To move on up the ladder, one has to be consistent in their daily activities and duties. Do them consistently and with this type of mindset, the sky is limit. I urge you as a reader to pick one thing your passionate about and work on it consistently. Be it 10 minutes a day or half and hour each day, work on it. Whoever sticks with their passion long enough will start seeing positive results manifest. Take this month of November as a starting point and set out clear and precise goals, revisit your goals periodically to track your progress. Once you achieve what you set out, do not relax keep at it and push to be consistent since that will be the only way you maintain this newfound success.
